Inspired by an organ recital at the age of eight, Jed began lessons with Henry Fairs at the Junior Department of Birmingham Conservatoire. He has since performed at a number of distinguished venues, including Walsall Town Hall, Methodist Central Hall, and Saint-Sulpice Paris. In August 2016, Jed won the Intermediate Class at the Northern Ireland International Organ Competition and was joint winner of the Junior Section of the Wadden Sea International Organ Competition. In 2018, he was awarded First Prize at the Jugend Musiziert in Lübeck, Germany. Alongside his organ studies, Jed was a double bass student at the Junior Academy of Royal Academy of Music from 2011, where he studied with Hugh Sparrow, Principal Bass of English National Opera. He was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for three years, performing at major venues including Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Centre, and Royal Festival Hall. During this time, the orchestra recorded The Planets for Chandos Records. In September 2017, Jed began studying organ with Martin Schmeding at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig, performing at Nikolaikirche and Thomaskirche. After a year of undergraduate study at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, he continued his studies at the Berlin University of the Arts with Professor Henry Fairs. Returning to England in July 2022, Jed focused on his role as Assistant Musical Director at the Elmore Chamber Music Festival. He subsequently served as Organ Scholar at Manchester Cathedral and Wells Cathedral, concluding his appointment at Wells at the end of 2023. He is currently Director of Music at St Mary the Virgin Church Wotton-under-Edge, Teacher of Organ at Magdalen College School Oxford, and Chapel Organist and Teacher of Organ at Stowe School.
